sumi vora (she/her)

CEO + Founder

Sumi is a high school senior in Broomfield, Colorado who founded Project Planet to increase diversity in the green movement in order to combat environmental justice issues. She is an aspiring lawyer and is currently the president of her high school’s Speech and Debate team as well as their Recycling Club, and she is the treasurer of their Model UN organization. She is also the chair of the SCFD Teen Council that works to connect Colorado teens with opportunities to engage in arts, science, and culture. In her free time, Sumi loves to do yoga, play the piano, and bake vegan desserts!  

austin kent (he/him)

Vice President

Austin Kent is based in Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA. Kent comes from an ancestry of primarily Irish and German roots. He is currently a student at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs, pursuing a degree in Geography and Environmental Science. In addition to his studies and working for Project Planet Advocacy, he works with the youth leadership group Gen7. Gen7 seeks to establish relationships between Native and non-native Americans, and together work to heal historical traumas. Finally, Kent is a visual artist and nature enthusiast. His long term goals relate to encouraging and supporting health for humanity and the planet through reconnecting the two through innovative communal farming projects, backpacking trips, and more.

jadeyn dugger (she/her)

Community Outreach Coordinator

Jadeyn is currently a senior at Denver School of the Arts studying theatre. Social justice and art are her two greatest passions and she hopes to create theatre that sparks political action. She is extremely passionate and very involved in her community. She is a Colorado State Thespian Officer, the Vice President of her thespian troupe at Denver School of the Arts, and Student Council President. She is also a founding member of the Colorado Youth Congress, which she has been a part of since 2017. The organization works to empower youth to create social change in Colorado. She is a climate activist and wishes to create a safe, beautiful world for generations to come. She also loves the outdoors, rock climbing, writing, and spending time with her friends and family. 

kayla futakami (she/her)

Managing Editor

Kayla Futakami (she/her) is a rising senior at Chapparal High School in Scottsdale, Arizona. She is a passionate social justice advocate and an environmental enthusiast who enjoys hiking and exploring new locations. At school, Kayla is involved in the National Organization for Women (NOW) and Recycling Club. Kayla has won several accolades during her career as a soccer player and is a recruitment prospect for professional teams in Spain such as FC Barcelona and Espanyol. She currently plays for the SC del Sol U18/19 Girls DA team. In her free time Kayla likes to read, write and listen to music.

phoebe wong (she/her)

Graphic Designer

Phoebe Wong is a rising senior at Arcadia High School in Los Angeles, California. She is passionate about social justice and environmental sustainability. At school, she is the Girl’s Golf Team captain, an AVID Mentor, a member of a volunteer organization called Leo Club, and a peer tutor. In her free time, Phoebe likes to hang out with her friends, travel around the world, explore the outdoors, and watch TV. Phoebe’s goal for joining Project Planet is because it is up to us– the leaders of tomorrow– to create a better future.

gayathri ruthirakotti (she/her)

Social Media Coordinator

Gayathri believes that environmental advocacy is essential for our current and future society. As a rising senior at Stargate Charter School, Gayathri is actively involved in her school recycling club and was a treasurer of SeaSTAR (Student Environmental Advocacy of Stargate). She is the Secretary of HOSA and aspires to become a Hematologist. As a diligent member of Student Council for the past 4 years, Gayathri has undergone various leadership training and exposure, an essential skill to educate and advocate the objectives of Project Planet. Recently, Gayathri became a member of Desis for Change; a non-profit organization that supports social injustice related issues. Some activities that Gayathri is passionate about are Indian classical art forms (Dance and Music) as well as Taekwondo.
